Suggestions

Since we don’t have the time to try every game out there, we would love to hear some suggested games from the community. If you have any games that you would like to suggest we pick as our next project, post a comment here.

  • No games that are coming or have a high chance of coming stateside
  • Any platform is acceptable
  • No repeat suggestions
  • Please tell us a bit about the game and why you think we should pick it up

NOTE: This doesn’t guarantee that the game you want will be translated, but there’s a chance if we think its worth our time.

First of all, I’d like to thank you guys for translating Shiren 2. I fell in love with the first Shiren DS, and I was crushed when I found out the second one would not be getting a localization. So thanks for opening up that experience for me. Anyway, I have a couple questions.

    1. I was wondering if you will be tackling Shiren 4′s translation, in the event that it also does not receive a localization. It is looking very exciting so far, and I would hate to miss out on it.

    2. I know that Shiren 3 was localized for the wii recently (I’ve been playing the hell out of it), but I noticed that it was also ported to the PSP in Japan. As much as I like dungeon crawling on my TV, I would much rather have it portable. Is there any chance that a translation like Shiren 2′s could be done?

Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Thanks for the suggestions! If we do decide to take on Shiren 4, it probably won’t be for a while. Depending on how well Shiren for the Wii sells(which seems pretty good given it’s reviews), there might be a chance that it will be officially localized. As for the psp port, I’ve been pretty interested in that, especially since I’ve been playing through the Wii version now. Though again, that might have to wait a while just in case they decide to bring that over as well.

XVirus, loving the work you’ve done on Torneko and Shiren DS 2! Also wondering like the guy above whether it’d be simple enough to implement the same menu translations in Shiren 4 that you’ve used in Shiren 2?

    Cheers,

    Dan

It is a possability, but we’ll have to wait until the game comes out. I doubt they’ll be changing the system much, so it will probably be pretty similar. Though if they do change it, hopefully they’ll make it “easier”(please please please move text out of the arm9!!)

I thought the game was out since end of Feb:

    See what you think!

Woah :P I guess that shows how out of the loop school keeps me! I’ll give it a look now and see what I can do.

Edit: I just gave it a quick glance and it looks like most of the text has been put in separate files with a custom(?) compression on them. At this point, I’m not even sure if I would be able to do a menu translation. I might eventually look into it later, but custom compressions were never my forte.

Oh well, it sounds like the guys from chunsoft are changing the format all the time. No hassle, I haven’t even completed the second one, just thought maybe it’s a cut and paste job with the menu items. Anyway, thanks to you I’m enjoying the castle-in-the-desert-shiren!!!

Keep up the good work xvirus! :)
